WHAT TO DO WITH KIDS IN NOOSA

Not only is Noosa the Relaxation Capital of Australia, it is also one of Australia’s most child friendly tourist destinations. Once you’ve booked your child friendly accommodation in Noosa, it’s time to start planning your family activities! Here are just a few of our suggestions.

The best beach in Noosa for kids

The best beach for kids is Noosa Main Beach. It is patrolled and conditions are relatively safe. There are other patrolled beaches along Sunshine Beach, Sunrise Beach and Peregian Beach but these are open beaches and usually a little more rough than Noosa Main Beach.

The Noosa River with kids

There are plenty of other things to do in Noosa apart from going to the beach. Whether you’re travelling with children or not, you can’t miss a visit to the Noosa River. There are plenty of leisure activities here, you can hire a kayak or stand up paddle board or just get a coffee and let the kids play in the sand or wade in the water.

Noosa Playgrounds

There are the usual playgrounds dotted around the suburbs but Pirate Park on Gympie Terrace is where you want to be.

Pirate Park sits on the river at the beginning of Gympie Terrace. Plenty of slides, swings and sand. You could get fish and chips from the boat house and walk to Pirate Park from there.

An enclosed water splash park is located at the Noosa Marina. There are some picnic tables in there so you could get a coffee from the Marina and pack a picnic breakfast while the kids go wild! The skate park is right next to it.

North of the Marina is a playground with a couple of slides and a swing. Just take a short walk (walking away from the Marina) along the river.

Other areas to explore in Noosa with kids

If you drive up Hastings Street (away from the National Park), you will get to the river mouth. This is the perfect area for kids to explore during low tide. Shallow bodies of water and sand islands are there to explore.

You can climb Mount Tinbeerwah with a child in a carrier. It’s also possible for a two year old to walk up (with close supervision). The walk is not long and the views are magnificent. Sunrises are better than sunsets but either are good! It’s about a 20 minute drive from Noosa and then a 10 minute walk up.

The Noosa Botanic Gardens are great for just walking around and having a picnic. Stroller friendly and a great way to wear a toddler out. It is about a 30 minute drive though and it would probably be one of those activities to do after every other activity has been done.

Rainy days in Noosa with kids

What to do with kids when it rains in Noosa? Take them to the Noosa Aquatic centre. It has heated pools, including a toddler pool. During the holidays there are often inflatables set up for the kids which is lots of fun.

Noosa Cinemas… believe it or not, our small town has a movie theatre! It’s located at the Noosa Junction. Why not visit Fiona’s Fancies beforehand and enjoy one of their delicious cupcakes and a cup of coffee – the kids will love it.

There is a fantastic indoor play area for kids under five at the Noosa Leisure Centre, near the Noosa Library. Entry is about $5 per child and there is a cafe there too (separate from the kids play room).
